Historic East Austin
James Leonard Farmer,Jr. lived at 1617 New York Avenue in East Austin. His father was a professor at Tillotson College in 1926, now Huston-Tillotson University.
Professor James Leonard Farmer, Jr. is known for his leadership in the Civil Right movement.
A State Historical marker will be placed at his former home on New York Avenue in 2008.
